World Meeting of families 2018 in Ireland has announced that all 500,000 tickets for its closing Mass in the Phoenix Park Dublin on Sunday 26th August have been booked out.
There are 21 parishioners from Holy Rosary Parish travelling by coach to Dublin on 26th August. Arrangements is being made for them to be collected in the Holy Rosary car park on the Sunday morning. Time of departure is still to be arranged and those going will be notified in due course. In the interests of security, people will be asked to present photo ID along with their ticket before entering the Park. Arrangements have been made for people with a disability to be transported via shuttle service from their coach on arrival to their designated enclosure in Phoenix Park. After the Mass, they will be transported back to their coach. It is anticipated that all others may have to walk 2-3 kilometres from the coach to the Phoenix Park.
Provided seating arrangements, insurance, toilet facilities etc. are in place, The Holy Rosary Parish plans to open the doors of the Parish Centre on Sunday 26th August so that parishioners and friends can watch events as they unfold in Phoenix Park. We hope to present this historical event on two wide screens in the main hall and you are invited to come along to celebrate this event with other members of the parish community. We will let you know when all arrangements have been finalized.
Bishop Noel Treanor has invited John L Allen JR, editor of Cruxnow.com to present a special talk on Pope Francis to take place in St. Brigid’s Parish Centre Derryvolgie Avenue. He will be reflecting on the recent writings of Pope Francis and the challenge that Pope Francis is encouraging us to embrace here in Ireland.
The talk will take place in St. Brigid’s Parish Centre on Thursday 16th August, beginning at 7.30pm. Free Admission but seats are limited. For queries, contact: 01-6874028.
Each Pastoral Area or parish has been asked to mark the World Meeting of Families by having a special religious event to pray for the success of the event and to celebrate the coming of Pope Francis to Ireland. With that in view, the parishioners of this pastoral area are invited to come to a special Mass in the Good Shepherd Church on Tuesday 21st August at 7.30pm.
This is an ideal opportunity to highlight the importance of family in our parish community and to see ourselves as a parish family.
There are still a few weeks of work to be done before the Holy Rosary Parish Centre is ready for use. Floors in the main hall and the two conference rooms have still to be laid down, and the kitchen still has to be fitted. Lighting has to be installed and the audio/visual communication system put in place. Completion date will be at the end of September and in due course we look forward to the official opening.
In the meantime, the Parish Pastoral Council are planning how best the Centre can be managed. The Diocesan authorities, in accordance with new regulations have advised us to advertise for a Parish Manager/Caretaker and to set up a Parish Centre Committee.
We are a vibrant, diverse, Catholic community in South Belfast, dedicated to living the Gospel day by day through our words and actions.
